Title: Gangs of New York
Year: 2002
MPAA: Rated R for intense strong violence, sexuality/nudity and language.
Runtime: 166 min
Cast:
Leonardo DiCaprio .... Amsterdam Vallon
Daniel Day-Lewis .... William 'Bill the Butcher' Cutting
Cameron Diaz .... Jenny Everdeane
Jim Broadbent .... William 'Boss' Tweed
Henry Thomas .... Johnny Sirocco
Liam Neeson .... Priest Vallon, Amsterdam's Father
Brendan Gleeson .... Walter 'Monk' McGinn
John C. Reilly .... 'Happy' Jack Mulraney
Gary Lewis .... McGloin

Plot: Irish immigrants fight for their right to live in New York city in the 1860s. "The Butcher" William Cutter (Daniel Day-Lewis) owns everything in the Five Points and one Irishman, Amsterdam Vallon (Leo!!1!!) has had enough.

Review: OH MY GOD. This movie was amazing. Go see it. BUY IT. I will. This is one movie about America I actually like! It was BEAUTIFULLY shot for all you artistic people, almost three hours long, but NEVER boring. Very good story. You really start to feel for even "The Butcher." Such an awesome movie. One of my favourites. Up there with The Last Samurai. My only gripe is Leo and Cameron Diaz's Irish accents. Especially Cameron's. They could have used some work, but over all they were okay.

Out of five stars, I give it a fucking five.

Rating: *****!!!!!

SEE THIS MOVIE!

Title: Road Trip
Year: 2000
MPAA: Rated R for strong sexual content, crude humor, language and drug use.
Runtime: 94 min
Cast:
Breckin Meyer .... Josh Parker
Seann William Scott .... E.L.
Amy Smart .... Beth Wagner
Paulo Costanzo .... Rubin Carver
DJ Qualls .... Kyle Edwards
Tom Green .... Barry Manilow
Rachel Blanchard .... Tiffany Henderson
Anthony Rapp .... Jacob

Plot: Josh Parker has a girlfriend at another college in Austin, Texas that hasn't called him. When he thinks that she gave up, he finds a girl that really likes him, and they go to a party. One ting leads to another, and they make a nice little tape. Now he was supposed to send a tape to his girlfriend, and the tapes got swtiched. Now he goes all the way to Austin to try to get it back.

Review: This movie was pretty funny. It could have been better in a lot of ways, but all in all it was entertaining. Worth watching once, maybe. I dunno. I don't have much to say about it.

Out of five stars, I give it a four. Not much about it. Just a funny movie.

Rating: ****

Title: Labyrinth
Year: 1986
MPAA: Rated PG for some language
Runtime: 101 min
Cast:
David Bowie .... Jareth the Goblin King
Jennifer Connelly .... Sarah
Shari Weiser .... Hoggle
Ron Mueck .... Ludo
Dave Goelz .... Didymus

Plot: A young girl, Sarah, wishes her baby brother would be taken by some Goblin King for almost no reason. So Jareth the Goblin King comes, played by David Bowie for reasons unknown to man, and snatches her brother, Toby. The Jareth tells her she has thirteen hours to go through a labyrinth to look for him. That's about all.

Review: Oh, god. What to say about this movie. If you are looking for a good laugh, watch it. You will shit your pants. I know I did. If you're into that weed stuff, this is the movie for you. It's so nuts, but trust me, no weed is required to laugh your ass off. I got along just fine. David Bowie sings this awesome song that made me laugh for five minutes straight. If you are looking for a movie to watch for quality, pass this up. It's got a HORRIBLE story. Think Never-Ending Story with a maze and David Bowie. God, it's a good time. It does get kind of boring, but, eh. Oh well.

Out of five stars, this movie gets a three. The movie itself would get a one if not for the laughing factor.

Rating: ***

American History X

Title: American History X
Year: 1998
MPAA: Rated R for graphic brutal violence including rape, pervasive language, strong sexuality and nudity.
Runtime: 119 min.
Cast:
Edward Norton .... Derek Vinyard
Edward Furlong .... Danny Vinyard
Beverly D'Angelo .... Doris Vinyard
Avery Brooks .... Dr. Bob Sweeney
Jennifer Lien .... Davina Vinyard
Ethan Suplee .... Seth Ryan
Stacy Keach .... Cameron Alexander
Fairuza Balk .... Stacey

Plot: Danny Vinyard must write a report for school... on his own brother. Derek Vinyard, a former Neo-Nazi goes to jail for the murder of two blacks. While in jail, Derek realizes that his whole life has been controlled by Nazi propogandist Cameron Alexander. Derek finds himself pulling Danny out of the exact path he went down. They see that not everything in this world is so black and white (HAHA! Pun intended!).

Review:
Wow. Good, freaking, movie. REALLY makes you think about the condition of America's ghetto and the like. Edward Norton (Derek) makes some very good points about minority, yet learns that there are many exceptions to the rule. Very awesome story with awesome character development. Really makes you feel for almost all sides of the colour wheel. The ending is certainly interesting, but it is such a good movie. A very accurate depiction of the ghetto. Because I would know.

Out of five stars, I give this movie a four point five. Almost perfect, but some things which could have tickled my fancy a little further. I didn't think Derek shouldn't be such a bitch to his family in the flash back... I dunno.

Rating: ****.5
